The appointment of Steve Tandy to a senior coaching role was overseen by new WRU director of rugby, Reddin.
“Steve’s coaching journey and the approach he has taken to his own learning and development since leaving the Ospreys impressed us,” said Reddin, adding that Tandy embodies the collaborative and systematic culture he wants to instil in the high-performance system. “He is an excellent coach with the motivation and curiosity to continue to learn and develop very much a part of his DNA.”
While Tandy’s backroom staff has not been officially announced, Wales will look to recruit coaches involved in recent campaigns. Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt is reportedly in line to become the attack coach, with Harlequins scrum coach Adam Jones and Gloucester assistant Rhys Thomas also being considered for positions.
Reddin confirmed that the selection of the coaching team will be a collaborative process and that Tandy will be “fully involved.”
“Steve is a vital part of the future strategy for success in Welsh rugby, and I will ensure he has the space, time, and support to realise the potential of the exciting group of players at his disposal,” Reddin stated. “He brings a wealth of experience, a unique understanding of the young talent we have, and a huge amount of passion to excel in the role.”
