Five people have been rescued after a leisure boat overturned on the Hawkesbury River.
The vessel, with three people on board, ran into trouble at about 10am on Sunday after travelling almost an hour from Mooney Mooney.
It’s believed the other two people had swam out in an attempt to rescue those on the boat.

The cause of the incident was lack of drain plugs, which allows water to exit a boat.
‘The skipper decided to beach the vessel as it was taking on water,’ the statement said.
‘As it approached the beach, the five persons were flung into the water as the boat overturned.
‘A passing boat assisted one of the five, with the other four making it safely to shore unassisted.’
All passengers are safe and well, and the boat has been towed away.
Marine Rescue NSW reminded skippers to check boat bungs are in before heading out on the water.
