The Brooklyn Nets are still waiting on whether their star Kyrie Irving finally decides to get vaccinated or not. The point guard is not very up to the task, and if he continues like this, he would miss more than 41 games of the regular season and the subsequent playoffs due to the laws that prevail in the State of New York.
Such a mess could disrupt the Nets’ plans and their path to the ring. However, whether Irving plays or not, NBA analysts have placed them as the top favorites to win his first title.
All this Irving and COVID-19 vaccines business is generating tremendous media noise, but general manager Sean Marks has assured that it is not being a distraction for his players.
«Definitely this whole thing is more on Twitter than in our dressing room. All I can tell you is what he has told everyone: it is a private matter and he has to discuss it with the right people and his closest circle, “explained Marks to the medium. The Athletic.
“Despite this situation, we are not going to shy away from our expectations, which are something unique to the Nets. But we are going to do it with humility knowing that we have not achieved anything yet, “he concluded.
If Irving is not vaccinated in the end, New Yorkers have enough offensive potential to reach the NBA Finals with Durant, Harden, Harris, Brown, Aldridge, Griffin, Johnson or Millsap among others.
