Searching mother demands that FGR guarantee her safety in the face of threats

Cecilia Patricia Flores Armenta, founder of the organization Madres Buscadoras de Sonora, urged the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) to guarantee her physical safety, after the death threats she has received for her activism in the search for missing persons. .

The activist said she felt unprotected since despite reporting these threats to the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) and the Executive Commission for Attention to Victims (CEAV), the investigations are not advancing.

At the same time, they have warned her that they cannot protect her if she does not stop looking for her two missing children. In 2015, Cecilia Patricia Flores Armenta suffered the disappearance of the first of her children, Alejandro Guadalupe, in the municipality of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, and in 2019, that of Marco Antonio, in the municipality of Bahía de Kino, Sonora.

Calls from prison

Accompanied by other activists, such as Bryan LeBaron, the searching mother went to the FGR facilities to file a complaint since she said she had identified that from the state prison in Hermosillo, Sonora, they have called her and sent intimidating messages against her, such as that they put a price “on his head” of 50,000 pesos.

“They have put a price on my head and that of some of my colleagues, of those who follow him the most. The authorities have not done anything and have only told me that they cannot give me permanent protection because I do not want to stop looking; That was the order of Encinas and Adán Augusto, who cannot give me permanent custody because I have to stop looking.

“Because they cannot participate in the search, it is unfortunate that we have to suffer this situation and that I have to live in fear and that I prefer to live in the mountains because I do have security there,” he said.

Due to the foregoing, she did not hesitate to hold the authorities responsible for what could happen to her and her companions, for the lack of protection given her right to search for her two children.

“This is what we are suffering now, for fighting, for looking for my children, for looking for my disappeared (…) now not only I am suffering the threats, but also part of my group. They say that whoever walks with me will suffer the same thing that happens to me, ”she mentioned.

Likewise, the searching mother maintained that “despite death threats, I will not stop looking for my children.”
