Sedena prepares the construction of a hotel near the archaeological zone

In the archaeological zone of Edzná, in Campeche, it is planned to build a 160-room hotel before November 30 of this year.

Javier May, general director of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism, commented that for Section 2 of the Mayan Train, the construction of a hotel is planned this year that will improve the experience of visitors.

He also assured that “the Tren Maya hotels will enrich the train travel experiences and will offer unique stays in the world due to their proximity to the archaeological zones.”

Blas Andrés Núñez Jordán, head of the Operations Coordination Center (CCO) of the Mayan Train, explained that the works will be in charge of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), through the General Directorate of Engineers.

The authorities indicated that the location of the work is more or less 1 kilometer away from the archaeological zone and 50 kilometers from the state capital.

Currently, the construction, which has already begun, is carried out on an area of ​​12.5 hectares.

On the other hand, Núñez Jordán affirmed that the construction will have three towers of three levels each, in which the 160 rooms will be located.

He informed that it will have, in one of the three towers, a reception, gym and restaurant. In addition, it will have vehicular access, swimming pools, cafeterias, parking and a service building; everything necessary for the proper functioning of the hotel will be located in this place.

The head of the CCO of the Mayan Train affirmed that, as part of the works in section two -in addition to the hotel-, it is planned to build a Visitor Service Center that will be built right next to the place where people will stay.

The general director of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism, Javier May, commented that the works of Section 2 of the Mayan Train give 42,000 sources of work to the inhabitants of the area.

“In terms of jobs, the work of the Mayan Train in Section 2 currently generates more than 42,000 sources of work, mainly local labor,” said the official. In addition, the Comprehensive Development Plan is applied, which has budgeted for the construction of 50 homes and 147 social works in the communities.
