(CNN) — Kylie Jenner was the most followed woman on Instagram until Selena Gomez returned to the social media platform and quickly reclaimed the title.
Gomez had previously been the most followed woman on Instagram, but she left the platform for a while only to come back stronger than ever. Both women have almost 400 million followers as of this Thursday.
Gomez had recently posted a photo of herself having a drink, writing in the caption: “I deleted this once because I thought maybe it was too much but hey.”
The singer had explained to Vanity Fair that she deleted Instagram from her phone and asked her team to post for her because she found it toxic.
“People can call me ugly or stupid and I’m like, ‘It doesn’t matter.’ But these people get down to business,” she told the publication. “They write very specific and cruel paragraphs. I cried constantly. I had constant anxiety. I couldn’t keep doing it. It was a waste of time.”
He continued: “The only thing I have on my phone is TikTok because it seems a little less hostile to me. Social media does wonderful things: connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories. But usually that leaks [para mí ahora]. I have created a system. Everything I do I send to my assistant, who publishes it. In terms of feedback, my team puts out some things that are encouraging.”
There is nothing but love for Gomez today, with loads of positive comments on her recent post. One fan wrote: “Wow! Thank goodness he’s back.”
