The American “CNN” channel, citing informed sources, reported that the prominent member of the US House of Representatives for the Republican Party, Liz Cheney, refused to apologize for her vote in favor of removing Donald Trump.
Informed sources revealed that Cheney said during a meeting of Republican members of the Council: “I will not apologize for my vote.”
Liz Cheney has faced criticism from other Republicans in the House of Representatives for her support for impeaching former President Donald Trump for inciting the storming of the Capitol.
Cheney is the third-highest-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives.
Despite her vote against party politics, Republican leader Kevin McCarthy confirmed that he does not intend to remove Cheney from the party leadership.
The House of Representatives had supported Trump’s impeachment on charges of inciting the storming of the Capitol on January 6, coinciding with the Congress meeting to approve the election results, which left 5 dead.
After the House of Representatives approved the file, Trump’s trial is scheduled to take place before the Senate in the coming days.
