And Shapiro recommends adding the following potassium-rich foodstuffs to the diet:
AvocadoHalf of an avocado contains 10% of the body’s daily need for potassium. Plus, avocados contain heart-healthy dietary fiber and fats.
sweet potatoIn addition to being high in potassium, sweet potatoes are rich in vitamin A, which improves visual acuity and skin condition.
SpinachIn addition to potassium, spinach contains lutein, zeaxanthin, dietary fiber and folic acid, which are essential for the eyes.
WatermelonWatermelon can compensate for the decrease in potassium level in the fall. It also contains a good amount of vitamins A and C and dietary fiber. Watermelon is rich in antioxidants, which reduce the risk of some types of cancer.
