Sexy World Store Manager Carina Thacker was frustrated to discover the robbery at the Gold Coast store on Tuesday

The owner of a sex shop has been left fuming after $20,000 worth of stock was stolen from the store just days before Christmas.

Dozens of sex toys were taken from Sexy World Nerang on the Gold Coast in a robbery in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Owner Danielle Patimore said it was the second break-in in recent months, in addition to ongoing issues with shoplifting.

‘Shoplifting is an ongoing problem for us. If someone was going to steal food I would be sympathetic but stealing sex toys, I’m really not sympathetic to that,’ she told the Courier Mail.

‘If you’re really that desperate – steal a cucumber.’

The thief took off with high-end vibrators and other electronic pleasure goods worth up to $300 each.

Opened ‘store testers’ including sex toys and ‘lucky dip’ items were also stolen.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage which shows a man wearing a hoodie enter the back of the store before fleeing the scene.

He allegedly drove off in a Mercedes which had been reported as stolen from elsewhere on the Gold Coast.

Last month a man stole a single sex toy when he broke into the store by squeezing through a small window.

Ms Patimore said while they had excess stock it was disappointing for this to happen so close to the holidays.

‘We always make sure we have enough for the Christmas rush because people come in for presents and over the holiday period parents have kids that might stay with other family members so couples like to spend quality time together or go on dirty weekends and they come in looking to buy something,’ she said.

‘We have other people coming in who are sick but still want to pleasure their partners so it’s disappointing that this would happen at this time of the year.’
