Shakira was named woman of the year in recognition of her career in music, especially for her records in 2022 and so far in 2023. With songs like “Monotonía” with Ozuna and her collaboration with Bizarrap on “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol . 53” has broken 14 world records according to Billboard magazine.
The Billboard portal affirmed that the Colombian singer has sold more than 95 million records worldwide, being one of the most successful Latinas in history. This award is a reflection of the success of her career.
In addition, she is one of the 10 most important artists of all time on YouTube, with more than 20,000 million cumulative views, and the most streamed female Latina of all time on Spotify.
Apart from her fame as a singer, Shakira created the Pies Descalzos Foundation, which has built and adapted nine schools in various cities of her native Colombia. According to Billboard, the foundation has raised more than $40 million since its inception and has impacted more than 150,000 children and nearly 900,000 families.
A ceremony honoring women
