Shanghai (China), Apr 7 (.).- The eastern Chinese megalopolis of Shanghai, considered the economic capital of the Asian country, signed 26 agreements on investment projects valued at the equivalent of some 9.8 billion dollars (8.975 billion euros). , reports the Yicai economic news portal.
Companies involved in the deals include Haleon, a subsidiary of British pharmaceutical giant GSK (LON:), and local firms such as industrial software developer NewDimension Systems and hydrogen producer Kohodo Hydrogen Energy.
The city, in which a strict anti-covid confinement was decreed that caused a 14% drop in GDP in the second quarter of 2022, is offering million-dollar incentives to attract new investments in important high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence or biotechnology.
After obtaining investments of about 1.2 trillion yuan (174,474 million dollars, 159,782 million euros) in 2022, the city authorities have already signed agreements worth about 225,400 million yuan (32,772 million dollars, 30,012 million euros) so far this year.
