(CNN) –– Actress Shannen Doherty shared with her followers on social media the news that her breast cancer had metastasized.
This Tuesday, the star of “Beverly Hills, 90210” posted on his verified Instagram account a video in which he appears receiving treatment, while tears fill his eyes. The message that accompanied the post began with “January 12, 2023.”
“On January 5th, my CT scan revealed metastases in my brain. Yesterday’s video showed the process of fitting the mask you wear during radiation to your brain,” he continued. “January 12 was the first round of radiation.”
“My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there is a lot going on in my life,” Doherty, 52, wrote. “I am lucky because I have great doctors like Dr. Amin Mirhadi and the amazing technicians at Cedar Sinai. But that fear… The turmoil… the timing of it all… This is what cancer can look like,” the message concluded.
The “Charmed” star was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, which went into remission two years later. In 2020, Doherty announced that her cancer had returned, spread, and was stage 4.
