(Trends Wide) — At least one person was injured in a shooting at a Walmart in Evansville, Indiana, Thursday night, and the suspected shooter was shot and killed by police, according to the Evansville Police Department.
Police received reports of a shooting at 9:59 p.m., Evansville Police Sgt. Anna Gray said at a news conference Thursday night. When they arrived, they were met by the suspect who fired multiple shots at the officers, Gray said. Officers responded and killed the suspect.
No officers were injured during the confrontation.
One injured person was transported to a local hospital, police said, but it is unclear what his condition is at this time. Gray said there could be more victims as people ran out of the store during the shooting. He urged anyone who may have been injured to contact the police.
The suspect has not been identified and a motive for the shooting was not provided.
The Evansville Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation, police said.
