(Trends Wide) –– Police in Farmington, New Mexico, are responding to an active shooting.
According to the police department, several officers were involved in the incident. Two police officers were shot, one belonging to the Farmington department and the other to the New Mexico State Police. Both are receiving care at a local hospital and are in stable condition.
There are multiple victims and at least 3 deaths, according to the statement.
“A suspect was confronted and killed at the scene. The identity of the suspect is unknown and there are no other known threats at this time,” authorities clarified.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Phoenix tweeted that they were responding to reports of a mass shooting in the city.
Trends Wide has reached out to the city’s mayor and the New Mexico governor for comment.
Farmington is located in northwestern New Mexico, just south of the Colorado state line.
