Sinaloa, Zacatecas and Guerrero were the states with the highest percentage of vehicle theft with violence during 2022as reported by Norma Alicia Rosas, general director of the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS).
“Although in general the percentage of the number of vehicles stolen at the national level with violence decreased since it went from 60% in 2021 to 55.11% at the end of 2022, there were some entities that significantly exceeded this percentage, for example Sinaloa, Zacatecas and Guerrero”.
By type of vehicle, with the highest percentage of theft are the motorcycles and heavy equipment which grew 18.1% and 22.9% respectively. The figures also indicate that by type of transport, car theft decreased 8.3% and pick up 5.8 percent.
In general, at the end of 2022 they were stolen 60,523 insured vehiclesa decreasing trend seen since 2017.
“Of the insured vehicles, the recovery percentage is 43%, in the last 12 months 26,276 vehicles were recovered,” he added.
