Freida Parton has issued a public plea for prayers for her sister, country music legend Dolly Parton, who is recovering from recent health problems.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Freida asked her sister’s global fanbase to join her. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately,” she wrote. “I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
The request comes after Dolly Parton postponed her first Las Vegas residency in more than 30 years late last month, citing health challenges. In a characteristically lighthearted statement, she joked, “It must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!” Parton also recently missed the announcement of a new ride at her Dollywood theme park.
The specific nature of the singer’s health concerns has not been disclosed.
Despite the situation, Freida expressed confidence in her sister’s resilience. “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly,” she concluded. “We all love you!”
While Parton has not toured extensively since 2016, she has remained active by releasing several books, developing a Broadway musical, and featuring on multiple albums.
