- The measures are to avoid outbreaks and widespread community transmission at the sets

Santa photos look very different in 2020 – with social distancing between Mr Claus and his tiny fans now mandatory to prevent a holiday virus outbreak.
Children are not allowed to sit on Santa’s knee this year, in fact they have to stay at least 1.5 metres away at many Christmas sets – but it appears some youngsters, especially toddlers, are very happy with the new rules despite the awkward results.
Instead of photographs of screaming babies making the rounds on Facebook parents are sharing photos of mostly happy children sitting on the other side of the room to Santa.
Some Australian Santas are also using masks, limiting the amount of people on set at once and not allowing people from different households to take photos together.
The rules appear to differ from centre to centre – but one mum revealed her Santa was wearing a mask under his beard which made it look like he didn’t have a mouth. Others used props to maintain distance.
