Manchester United will make a late decision on Paul Pogba‘s fitness before facing Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Pogba missed Saturday’s win over West Bromwich Albion after returning from international duty with France complaining of a slight ankle problem.

United’s record signing had started the two previous games on the bench for his club, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that he will wait to make a call on Pogba’s involvement at Old Trafford.

The United boss also revealed that Jesse Lingard – who has played only twice in the Carabao Cup this season due to a hip injury – is definitely out of contention again because he is self-isolating.

‘We hope he (Pogba) is going to be available,’ said Solskjaer. ‘He trained this morning so we will see if there’s any reaction when we report tomorrow.

‘Luke Shaw is out, Phil Jones is out and Jesse is still self-isolating after being in contact with a positive case. There are one or two things we need to look at.’

Shaw was ruled out for a month after pulling his hamstring at Everton before the international break, but Solskjaer fears the left-back could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

‘I hope nearer to four weeks but with a recurrence of hamstring injuries you can’t risk anything,’ he added.

‘He’s not trained with us. We’ll see how he reacts to the programme he’s on. Hopefully four weeks but maybe nearer five or six.’
