The Somali forces announced that nine members of the extremist “Al-Shabab Movement” were killed, while responding to an attack by the movement’s elements on the Qansahtiri area in Bay Governorate.
Muhammad Mukhtar Abdi, deputy head of the Qansahiri region for security affairs, said in a statement, “The extremist youth militia suffered heavy losses, as nine of them were killed, 12 wounded, in addition to the arrest of others.”
And Ahmed Abdullah Arif, head of the “Yaqshid” directorate in Somalia, was exposed on Sunday morning to a failed assassination attempt by detonating a landmine remotely when his car was passing by the “Dar Al Salam” area in the capital, Mogadishu.
The local media sources did not report any casualties during the explosion, while the official who was targeted in the ambush was confirmed to have survived.
