The health authorities in South Korea have issued a new directive for Coronavirus vaccination centers, stipulating that the number of doses extracted from a bottle of vaccine against this virus be increased to the maximum.
The authorities asked the medical staff to increase the number of doses extracted from the bottle of the anti-corona virus vaccine to the maximum, using the latest syringes.
For its part, the South Korean Agency for Disease Control and Prevention indicated that the special model of locally produced syringes paves the way for increasing the number of recipients of the Coronavirus vaccine by one or two people per bottle of vaccine, as this great achievement was achieved by means of “LDS” syringes. Special, designed to reduce the amount of pollen lost, by minimizing the space between the needle and the plunger.
This came one day after the start of the national vaccination program in the country.
It is reported that a bottle of “AstraZeneca” vaccine was estimated to be sufficient to vaccinate 10 people against the Corona virus, and that a bottle of “Pfizer” vaccine is sufficient to vaccinate 6 people against this virus, as an agency official said that the previous estimate was based on regular syringes, and thus the number of beneficiaries could be increased. Through the use of special “LDS” syringes, due to the fact that using the new syringes allows the extraction of up to 12 doses from a bottle of “AstraZeneca” vaccine, and 7 doses from a bottle of “Pfizer” vaccine.
While the authorities pointed out that the actual number of extra doses may vary depending on the skills of the medical staff.
It is worth noting that South Korea has secured sufficient vaccines against the Corona virus to vaccinate 79 million people, a number much higher than the country’s population of 52 million, and among those vaccines, the number of “AstraZeneca” vaccines that South Korea will receive reached 10 million doses, While the number of “Pfizer” vaccines has reached 13 million, as South Korea seeks to achieve herd immunity by next November.
