The South Tahoe Babe Ruth 14U All-Star team is extending its gratitude to the local community, whose generous support enabled their participation in the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament in Santa Maria, California. Representing Nevada as state champions, the team and its coaches competed in the prestigious event from July 21-26.
During the tournament, the All-Stars faced top-tier teams from Central and Southern California, Arizona, Utah, and Hawaii. In a historic achievement, the team secured a victory, marking the first time a South Tahoe team has won a game at the regional level in over two decades.
The journey to Santa Maria was made possible through a successful community fundraising effort that covered essential expenses such as travel, lodging, and food. This support ensured that every player could participate in the event without placing a financial burden on their families.
The team offers special thanks to the South Tahoe Babe Ruth Board and its president, Mark Shehadi, for their leadership and dedication. They also acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the players’ parents throughout the season.
Numerous local businesses and individual donors were instrumental in the fundraising success. The team extends its appreciation to A&C Plumbing, Blue Dog Pizza, CoCoMoes, Lira’s Market, Verde Mexican Rotisserie, Shehadi Motors, Grand Central Pizza, Tahoe Bagel Co., Tahoe Best Friends, Tahoe Hot Pot, Rojo’s, Grass Roots, Divided Sky, Steamers, Chimayo, Cold Water Brewery, Turn 3, AleWorx, Lake Tahoe AleWorx, Tahoe Pourhouse, The Hangar, and Lakeside Inn and Casino.
