Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhotel said that his striker Danny Ings has regained fitness after recovering from a knee injury, and is preparing to face his former team, Liverpool, in the 17th round of the English Premier League.
Hasenhotel told reporters on the eve of the Southampton and Liverpool confrontation scheduled for Monday evening: “It is natural that he (Ings) definitely did not reach the peak of his fitness after the injury, but it is important that he remains prepared and had enough time to recover before the Liverpool match.”
He added, “I am happy that he is back and we must have more effectiveness in attack to score more goals in the future, and I am confident that this will happen.”
“I think Che (Adams) is tired now and played almost every game, so now he feels like he’s had a long season,” he added.
Ings has scored six league goals this season but has not scored in his last four matches.
Southampton has not scored a goal in their last three league games, drawing twice, losing 0-1 to Manchester City and finishing ninth.
