Spending on social development will absorb 65.5% of the budget for 2023

Juan Pablo de Botton, Undersecretary of Expenditures of the dependency, explained to deputies that of the 8.29 billion pesos of total spending that is proposed in the Federal Expenditure Budget Project (PPEF) 2023, 65.5% will go to the social development function.

In total, the function of social development will have an expense of 3.9 billion pesos. Inside, the item with the greatest resources will be that which refers to social protection, with 1.7 billion pesos, while education will have a budget of 910.692 million pesos and health 868.162 million pesos.

Like its owner, Rogelio Ramirez de la Ode Botton assured before the San Lázaro Budget and Public Account Commission that the proposed budget for the following year is balanced, responsible and realistic.

“It is built under the principles of austerity, efficiency and rationality, providing that operating and non-substantive expenses are kept at levels that allow the operation of the public administration, directing most of the resources to substantive projects, for the benefit of the welfare of the population”, he said when appearing to explain the PPEF 2023.

The Chamber of Deputies has until November 15 as the deadline to approve the PPEF. During the following week, the analysis and discussion work is expected to continue so that the PPEF is ruled and, later, passed to the plenary session.
