Splinterlands, the most popular NFT-based play-to-earn card game on the web, began the highly anticipated general sale of its latest “Chaos Legion” card packs, Invezz learned from a press release. Although the sale started yesterday, more than 6 million packs of a total of 15 million have been sold.

The successful sale of Splinterlands’ packs hardly comes as a surprise. It became the most played blockchain game on DappRadar in less than five months. Players can get card packs through Credits, which can be purchased online for DEC or SPS, Splinterlands’ native tokens. An airdrop system will ensure fair distribution between users.

Everyone who made a purchase during the pre-sale has the chance to receive rare air dropped cards. At least one card in each pack of 5 is a rare or higher. Cards can also transform into gold foil versions, where the value, level, and collection power of the card grow compared to its regular foil counterpart.
Voucher system gated initial pre-sale
The pre-sale was gated behind a voucher system, where you could trade 1 VOUCHER along with 4000 credits per pack, corresponding to $4. Users could obtain VOUCHERS by staking SPS or buying them in Hive Engine.
Airdrop system prevented sellout
The airdrop system has helped prevent premature sellout and manage user’s excitement and rush to buy packs, ensuring fair and even distribution of cards over time. One new card is revealed and airdropped to pack purchasers for each million of packs sold after the start of the general sale.
