SRE projects growth this 2023 with the opening of new embassies and consulates

For this 2023, foreign policy and the work of the mexican chancellery through the opening of new embassies and consulates, growing in global presence, supporting multilateral organizations and defending the interests of Mexico, assured the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard.

At the opening of the XXXIV Meeting of Ambassadors and Consuls 2023 (REC) Foreign Minister Ebrard stressed that the name of Mexico continues to be placed where it should be and celebrated the budget increase for the agency as well as the authorization of a new contest of the Mexican Foreign Service with 100 seats.

“We have a different diplomacy that seeks to contribute to Mexico’s priorities,” he declared before the diplomatic corps.

Without offering details, he reported that this year Mexico will open more embassies to increase its presence in Eurasia and Africa, where there is little representation, and more consulates in the United States and Central America.
