Ubisoft has announced that Star Wars Outlaws will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4th. While a release for Nintendo’s upcoming console was previously confirmed, a specific date had not been revealed until now.
The game is already available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Amazon Luna. Upon its initial release, Star Wars Outlaws received a two-out-of-five-star review from Eurogamer, which criticized it for falling short when compared to other established titles.
“It lacks the branching, open stealth of an Arkham game, the systemic options of a Dishonored… the linear polish and charisma of Uncharted… [or] the sheer joy of taking platforming and making it into an actual game in itself, as in Star Wars Jedi,” the review stated.
In related news, Ubisoft has also hinted that Assassin’s Creed Shadows may be released on the Switch 2. During a recent quarterly earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot stated that the title has “some new versions” coming for “other machines.”
Given that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is already slated for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, this comment has fueled speculation that the “other machines” refers to Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
