The NBA has shared the first official count of the votes cast by the public to choose the participants of the All-Star Game 2022. At the moment, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant lead the voting, with 2.58 and 2.36 million votes, respectively.
LeBron James and Nikola Jokic round out the Top 3 of the most voted players in the Western Conference. Luka Doncic and Ja Morant occupy the second and third position among the guards.
For the Eastern Conference, Giannis Antetokounmpo follows Durant closely among the inside players. Between the guards, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden and Trae Young have been the three players who have received the most votes so far.
Among those appearances that we can consider peculiar, are the more than 367,000 votes received by Klay Thompson or the almost 268,000 that Kyrie Irving treasures. The first has not played a single minute and the second debuted this season this Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers.
It should be remembered that the vote of the fans represents 50% of the final weighting of the vote. This will end on January 22. Players and a panel of media contribute 25% each to the final vote. The starters will be announced on January 27, while the reserves, selected by the NBA’s head coaches, will be announced on February 3.
