The Golden State Warriors enjoyed the privilege of drafting two lottery pick in the 2021 draft. They selected Jonathan Kuminga in seventh position, while Mooses Moody, one of the best shooters of the litter, was chosen with the 14th pick.
Steve Kerr is pleased with the progress of the two rookies but focused on Kuminga during the build-up to Sunday’s game against the Utah Jazz.
“He is having a typical rookie season,” said the Warriors coach, according to the media. ClutchPoints. “Everything is coming very fast. It has its good moments and it also has some low moments. Then he has another training session the next day and a match after this and everything else. It’s really about going through the whole season and understanding that there are going to be ups and downs. You just have to keep showing the same effort and focus as before and consistently take steps to improve.”
The casualties that the team has suffered in the last month has allowed it to enjoy a certain relevance and continuity. Since Christmas day he has played a total of thirteen games, two of them as a starter, averaging 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 17.9 minutes. In six of them he recorded double figures in scoring.
The Warriors have won five of their last six home games, improving their record at the Chase Center to 21-4 after beating the Utah Jazz. For now, it seems that Kuminga can become a valuable piece in the dynasty that the San Francisco people want to extend throughout this decade.
