Blake Griffin is completing a rather gray start to the season. In his first six games, the power forward has averaged 4.8 points, with a field goal accuracy of 28.6%, in 20.0 minutes, both records being the lowest of his career.
Despite this, Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash has no plans to move the player to the bench. Griffin has been part of the starting five in every game, while LaMarcus Aldridge has been much more productive, scoring 37 points in the last two games.
“I don’t plan on doing it,” said the head coach about using Griffin as part of the second unit, as reported by the New York Post. “He has been successful there with us in the past and LaMarcus is succeeding right now coming off the bench. So there are no reasons to make big changes. “
Nicolas Claxton has missed the last three games due to an illness not related to COVID-19. He is expected to be out for at least another week, allowing Griffin a small window of time to redirect his game.
“We all go through different periods in which we will not have our rhythm, our confidence. That’s what he’s going through right now. So it’s normal, ”Nash continued. “We will just wait because he has already hit the mark with us.”
Griffin signed another contract this summer for the veteran minimum. Previously, he had agreed to a buyout with the Detroit Pistons last year.
