Student accused of causing the death of her partner was arrested in Teotihuacán

A 14-year-old girl was arrested on charges of causing fatal injury to a colleague school, reported this Saturday the prosecutor’s office of the State of Mexico, a case that shocked the country.

The minor, identified as Aylin N, was arrested on Friday after police officers with a warrant conducted a search of her home in the tourist town of TeotihuacanMexico state.

He is accused of a “possible involvement in the crime of qualified homicide“, detailed a statement from the prosecution.

On February 21, at a public secondary school, Aylin N got into a fight with Norma Lizbeth, also 14, repeatedly hitting her on the head with a rock, moment it was recorded on video.

Although the injured minor returned home under her own power, on March 13 she lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital in the area, where she arrived without vital signs.

“The proceedings carried out by this prosecutor’s office established that the assault suffered by the minor resulted in a head injury whose evolution caused her death,” the statement said.

The director of the public school was dismissed, amid protests by parents who even blocked access to Teotihuacán.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador referred on Friday to the consequences of “bullying” among young people. Cultural, moral, spiritual values ​​must be “strengthened,” he said.

According to 2018 data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in Mexico 23% of students claimed to have been harassed several times a month.
