Photos of some of the greatest icons of the 20th century have gone for sale for thousands of dollars as part of a recent auction for Swann Auction House.
The photos that went for auction and sold for thousands of dollars included nude shots of Marilyn Monroe by photographer Lawrence Schiller, which went for $12,000.
Psychedelic snaps George Harrison from The Beatles by legendary photographer Richard Avedon went for $38,000.
There are are rare prints of Brooke Shields’ iconic photos advertising Calvin Klein jeans as well.
Legendary artist Andy Warhol’s photos are also part of the auction by Swann Galleries, including shots of William Burroughs and famous photobooth pictures of Holly Solomon that went up for sale.Â

Schiller famously proclaimed in his book that he photographed the starlet ‘on her way down’ while he was on his way up
Schiller said in interviews that he first photographed Monroe when he was just 23 years old
Monroe was 34 years old in 1960, when she first posed for Schiller
