Dawn newspaper, according to the Pakistani Ministry of Health, reported that the company producing the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against Covid-19 had requested permission from the Pakistani authorities to use it there in emergency situations.
The newspaper reported, that a Chinese company has also requested the Pakistani health authorities to allow it to conduct the third phase of testing for its vaccine.
A local medical official told the newspaper, “The Chinese company Anhui Zheifi Longcom Biopharm Pharmaceuticals Company Limited has applied for permission to carry out the third phase of clinical trials for its vaccine in Pakistan. This vaccine was designed jointly by this company and the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences. Chinese”.
Earlier, the director of the second division for Asia at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Zamir Kabulov, said that Russia is in constant contact with Pakistan about the possible supply of the “Sputnik V” vaccine, and Moscow hopes that Islamabad will buy a batch of the Russian vaccine.
Prior to that, Britain’s registered company AstraZeneca, as well as Sinopharm and CanSino Biologics from China, announced an interest in supplying vaccines to Pakistan.
