The Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) said – today, Sunday – that Sudan ordered 15 Emirati diplomats to leave its territory, against the backdrop of Khartoum accusing “Abu Dhabi” of siding with… Rapid Support Forces That fights Sudanese army Since mid-April.
SUNA added that the Sudanese authorities declared these Emirati diplomats undesirable and ordered them to leave within 48 hours.
She added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Acting Chargé d’Affairs at the UAE Embassy and informed her of the decision.
The move comes about two weeks after a member of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, publicly accused the UAE of supporting the Rapid Support Forces in its war against the Sudanese army.
After Al-Atta’s statements, hundreds of Sudanese demonstrated from the mosques of the city of Port Sudan (east) against the UAE, demanding the expulsion of its ambassador from the country.
About a month ago, the American Wall Street Journal reported that the UAE was providing military support to the Rapid Support Forces.
However, Abu Dhabi denied what was stated in the newspaper’s report. It also denied that it was biased towards either side of the war in Sudan, or that it had supplied any of them with weapons and ammunition.
