The head of the authority, Osama Rabie, indicated that he “decided to fix the fees for all types of vessels crossing the canal in the year 2021, and to renew all the incentives and cuts that were decided in 2020 for some classes of ships.”
Rabei also mentioned that “marketing policies helped to maintain most of the shipping volumes through the canal, and revenues, despite the global economic slowdown caused by the Corona pandemic.”
It is worth noting that the Suez Canal is the “shortest shipping route between Europe and Asia, and a major source of hard currency revenue for the Egyptian government.”
