Comfortable victory for the Phoenix Suns at the home of the Detroit Pistons. The team led by Monty Williams showed their superiority from start to finish and ended up winning the game by a difference of 27 points (135-108). The only negative news came with the injury of DeAndre Ayton.
The Suns’ starting center had to leave the game in the first quarter after suffering a sprained right ankle. Ayton had been able to add 6 points and 2 rebounds until the moment of the injury. The 23-year-old is averaging 17.1 points and 11.0 rebounds this season, being one of the key pieces of the league leaders. At the end of the match, Monty Williams reported that the extent of the injury is still unknown.
In the positive news section, Devin Booker’s match must be highlighted. The Suns point guard was once again the game’s top scorer with 30 points shooting 11 of 18 from the field. Cameron Payne was also the other decisive player for the Suns. Starting off the bench, he finished with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. In the same way, McGee stood out starting as a reserve, who showed that he can replace Ayton. In just over 15 minutes he had 20 points and 6 rebounds.
On the Pistons, Cade Cunningham continues to prove that he is the hope of the franchise. The rookie finished the game with 21 points and 4 assists playing just 24 minutes. Detroit began the game with a very young quintet – an average of 21 years of age among the starters. As many as three starting players – Hayes, Cunningham and Stewart – were under 20 years old.
