President Donald Trump said lawyer Rudy Giuliani is ‘doing very well’ after his lawyer was hospitalized after testing positive for the coronavirus.
The president commented on the condition of the lawyer leading efforts to overturn the election a day after Trump tweeted about Giuliani’s coronavirus test – and amid concerns of possible infections in its wake.
The disclosure Sunday raised concerns no only for Giuliani, but for the scores of people he potentially came in while conducting cross-country efforts to use the courts and legislatures to try to pry away the popular vote win for President-elect Joe Biden.
Rudy Giuliani appeared on Fox News on Sunday morning, and was in hospital that evening, where he tweeted that he was ‘getting great care and feeling good’ after testing positive for the coronavirus. President Trump said his lawyer was ‘doing well’
On Sunday night the Arizona legislature announced it was closing for two weeks following Giuliani’s visit, amid fears of another indoor superspreader event tied to politics.
Michigan was also bracing for possible infections after Giuliani’s hours-long testimony at an indoor hearing.
Given when he tested positive, ‘It is extremely likely that Giuliani was contagious during his testimony,” said Linda Vail, health officer for Ingham County Health Department following a consultation with state health officials, the Oakland Press reported.
‘Those who were present without a mask and those who were within 6 feet of Mayor Giuliani must quarantine for the safety of others,’ she said.
Trump said he spoke to Giuliani first thing Monday morning from the hospital.
‘Rudy’s doing well. I just spoke to him. He’s doing really well,’ Trump told reporters Monday.
‘No temperature. And he actually called me early this morning. He was the first call I got. He’s doing very well. He’s another champion,’ Trump reported just before awarding the Medal of Freedom to former Olympic wrestler Dan Gable.
‘Greatest mayor in the history of New York and what he’s doing now is more important,’ said Trump. The president then put Giuliani’s election efforts – a cause that suffered two more legal defeats Monday alone – with his stewardship of New York during Sept. 11th.
‘Rudy’s doing well. I just spoke to him. He’s doing really well,’ President Donald Trump told reporters Friday.
‘Well, I am concerned about Rudy’s health,’ New York Medical College professor Dr. Bob Lahita, who raised concerns Giuliani could be a ‘superspreader’

Former New York City mayor and current attorney for President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, poses with members of the Arizona Legislature Nov. 30, 2020, after an unofficial hearing on alleged election fraud in Arizona. ‘And he will admit that. He was the greatest mayor. Did a fantastic job … And what he’s doing now and he will say it is even more important,’ said Trump.
Trump also misstated the election results, after he has suffered more than 40 defeats in court.
‘Well in politics, I won two. So I’m two and 0 and that’s pretty good too,’ apparently adding his 2020 loss to his 2016 victory. ‘We’ll see how that turns out,’ he said.
In one report on Giuliani’s health – he is the latest high-profile Trump advisor to test positive for the virus – a prominent physician raised concerns Giuliani could be his own node of infection.
‘Well, I am concerned about Rudy’s health,’ New York Medical College professor Dr. Bob Lahita told Newsmax.
‘We of course revere him in New York City as one of our great past mayors,’ Lahita said, the DailyBeast reported.
‘He is up there in years and I really regret the fact that he traveled around the country basically not wearing a mask at any time. I never saw him wearing a mask. And inadvertently, he may have been a superspreader. That is having the diagnosis and then perhaps infecting quite a few people,’ he said.
Last week alone, Giuliani traveled to Arizona, Michigan, and Georgia where he told hearings and events set up to resemble hearings about his claims of voter fraud and heard from witnesses.
On Wednesday, in Lansing, Michigan, Giuliani objected to one of his witnesses, Jessy Jacob, wearing a face mask.
At the state house in Georgia, he was pictured greeting, hugging, and taking selfies with people he encountered while holding – but not wearing – a mask.
Giuliani’s exact condition was unknown, but at 6pm on Sunday evening he tweeted his thanks to a well-wisher, who urged Americans to pray for him.
On Sunday night his son Andrew thanked the public for their support, and said his father was resting.
‘My Dad is resting, getting great care and feeling well. Thank you to all the friends who have reached out concerned about his well being,’ he said.
Giuliani was continuing to tweet about election Monday, evidently from his hospital room.
He retweeted a Georgia state legislator’s call for a special session here it could substitute Trump electors rather than those for Joe Biden, who won the state by more than 12,000 votes.
‘This is showing real leadership to achieve an honest result in a state where the election was stolen right in front of our eyes. Captured for history by the security cameras,’ Giuliani said.
His claim of a ‘stolen’ election was directly contradicted the sworn affidavit provided by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office, taking down Giuliani’s claims that footage from an Atlanta counting facility showed vote fraud.
‘Our investigation and review of the entire security footage revealed that there were no mystery ballots that were brought in from an unknown location and hidden under tables as has been reported by some,’ investigator Frances Watson wrote, Fox News reported.
Two days earlier, Giuliani tweeted: ‘VIDEO EVIDENCE: Caught Red Handed, TRUMP WON GEORGIA!’
A federal district court judge appointed by George W. Bush, Timothy, disagreed in a ruling he issued Monday on a case filed by Trump ally Sidney Powell.
‘They want this court to substitute its judgment for two and a half million voters who voted for Joe Biden. And this I am unwilling to do,’ said judge Batten.
