Man, 26, fights for his life after being struck from behind during an argument on Sydney’s northern beaches

A man is in critical condition after being struck in the back of the head at a popular family beach in North Sydney.
The 26-year-old man was assaulted at a rock pool in Delwood beach, Fairlight, by a group of men.
The young man from North Narrabeen was out celebrating the end of the Northern Beaches COVID lockdown, according to the Manly Daily.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 4.30pm on January 10 where paramedics treated the man for his severe head injuries.
The man was conscious at this stage.
Police have said that the man was with his friends when they go into an argument with four men.
Detectives were told that he was struck from behind, causing him to fall with his head striking the ground.
He was rushed to the Royal North Shore Hospital at St Leonards.
The young man’s condition has since deteriorated and he has undergone emergency surgery.
He remains in a critical condition.

According to police, two of the men involved have been described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance and the other two are of Caucasian appearance.
Detectives have urged any witnesses to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers.
An investigation is ongoing.
