The Syrian artist Maxim Khalil, who resides outside his country, invited the “people of the Levant” to bid farewell to Hatem Ali, who described him as the “Prince of Directors” as befitting him.
And Khalil, who won the Best Arab Actor award last November and resides in France, said: “O people of Levant, Hatem came back to Al-Sham and bid him farewell to an icon who missed your homes with all love.
Oh people of the Levant, Hatem, see Al-Sham.
And bid him farewell, an icon that has come to your homes with all love … and my warmest …
And they called him farewell, with hope, beauty, and success. We came, Oh, and let the name Syria glow with the world of art and humanity.
They were called “Prince of Directors”, and we are the people of loyalty.

Khalil was one of the artists who mourned director Hatem Ali and wrote to him, addressing him as “my teacher”:
The director, Hatem Ali, is scheduled to arrive in Damascus this evening, and his corpse is to be buried on Friday afternoon, when it is buried in the Bab al-Saghir cemetery in Damascus.
