Syrian state television announced that the American attack at dawn on Friday targeted several areas in eastern Syria on the border with Iraq.

There has been no official comment from Syria yet on the air strikes.
This comes after the Pentagon confirmed that US fighter jets launched several raids on Iranian-backed militias in eastern Syria in response to the recent attacks against US personnel in Iraq.
The US Defense Department added that the strikes destroyed several facilities at a border control point used by Iranian-backed militant groups.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed his confidence that the correct target had been hit.
“We are sure that the target in Syria was being used by the same militias that carried out the missile attacks in Iraq,” Austin told reporters Thursday evening.
