Tabasco, with the highest unemployment rate in the country

Queretaro, Qro. During November, Tabasco reported the highest unemployment rate in the country, of 4.16% of the Economically Active Population (PEA), according to the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (Enoe) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

The unemployment rate refers to the population that did not work even one hour during the week taken as reference in the survey, but expressed their willingness to do so and even carried out some activity to obtain a job.

After Tabasco are located Mexico City (4.08%), Nuevo León (4.04%), the State of Mexico (3.86%) and Querétaro (3.55%), which even when it registered a decrease of 2.16 percentage points, in relation to the rate from 5.70% that it had a year ago, in November 2021, it did not leave the first steps of unemployment nationwide.

In 2019, prior to the pandemic, Tabasco’s unemployment rate was 7.2%, for 2020 it rose to 10.06% and for 2021 it reached 5.75%, show historical records from Enoe.

Likewise, 2022 began with various variations: January with a rate of 6.25%, February with 5.59%, March 2.91%, April 5.13%, May 6.03%, June 5.71%, July 7.35%, August 3.33%, September 5.59% and October with 4.88 percent.

According to Inegi, the unemployment rate at the national level was 2.8% in November, 0.8 percentage points less than the previous year; the unemployed population amounts to 1.7 million.

Between November 2021 and the same month in 2022, Sonora was the state with the third largest decrease in the unemployment rate, with a drop of -2.40 percentage points, due to the fact that its unemployment rate fell from 3.96 to 1.56% between one year and the other; in second position was Quintana Roo with a reduction of 2.27 points, going from 3.97 to 1.70% and Querétaro with -2.6 percentage points.

In total, during November, 25 states reported an annual decline in the unemployment rate: Chiapas (-1.75 percentage points), Guanajuato (-1.67), Tabasco (-1.59), Aguascalientes (-1.41), Tlaxcala (-1.29), Veracruz (-1.24), Mexico City (-1.21), Coahuila (-1.12), Hidalgo (-1.07), Mexico State (-1.02), Jalisco (-0.97), San Luis Potosí (-0.90), Campeche (-0.90). -0.78), Michoacan (-0.75), Nayarit (-0.65), Oaxaca (-0.59), Colima (-0.55), Durango (-0.45), Zacatecas (-0.39), Yucatan (-0.37), Chihuahua (-0.31). ) and Tamaulipas (-0.11 percentage points).

On the contrary, seven states registered an increase in the unemployment rate in the last year: Baja California (0.74 percentage points), Morelos (0.74), Puebla (0.21), Baja California Sur (0.18), Nuevo León (0.17), Sinaloa (0.08) and Guerrero (0.01 percentage points).
