Taurean Prince is a new player for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The forward entered the Ricky Rubio transfer and now begins an adventure from scratch in the Western Conference. A priori, being two teams that have not entered the playoffs for years, it can be understood that the change is minimal, but for Prince it means much more than that, since it coincides with having left behind a serious ankle problem that had been haunting him for years. . Now the perspective is very different, he has gone through the operating room to undergo arthroscopy and is ready to give his best version.
“It was something of a pleasant surprise. I knew the guys we had here (Minnesota) had gotten better, so I was excited to be a part of something new… I like challenges, and this one is great, ”he comments on this new step in his career, before admitting that since In the 2018-19 academic year, there have been times when the pain in your joint has been unbearable.
It’s just about mental challenges. Overcoming that has put me in a great position to remain positive despite all the bad things. I had surgery a few months ago. I started rehab the moment I was able to walk, and now I feel better.
The big question in your case is why you have waited so long. If you were so sure that your condition would improve remarkably with a minor surgery and a few months of rehabilitation, what was holding you back to carry it out?
“If it had been up to me, I would have had surgery my first year in Brooklyn, but I made a sacrifice. Not just for the organization, but for myself. He was obviously trying to get a new contract. I could have done it, again, in Cleveland, but once again I sacrificed myself for the organization and myself to try and make the playoffs. But I do not regret. I would do it all the same again.
He achieved his goal. In October 2019, he sealed a contract extension agreement for two years and 25 million dollars, of which he still has the second season. He’ll be a free agent next summer, but it’s not something he’s worried about right now, as he looks really good. “I feel healthier than I have felt in the last two years, and I am very close to where I was before I was injured,” he concludes.
