Teen pedestrian, 16, is killed on a major highway after a car hit her and a young boy

- The 16-year-old is believed to have gotten out of a car on the Old Hume Highway
- A 16-year-old boy also got out of the vehicle and was hit but is in stable condition
- It’s not known why the young teenagers got out of their car on the roadway
A 16-year-old girl has died after being hit by a Toyota Corolla on a major highway in NSW.
The young teenager was with a 16-year-old boy at the time when they were struck by the car on the Old Hume Highway at Mittagong on Friday night.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and treated the girl for serious head injuries before she was flown to Liverpool Hospital.
She however died on Saturday.

The boy she was with was also treated at the scene for leg injuries and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
According to NSW Police, a car had stopped on the side of the road when the two teens got out and they were hit by the Toyota.
The driver of the second vehicle, a man aged 42, was released from custody after undergoing mandatory tests.
Police are continuing their investigations and are preparing a report for the coroner.
