With Christmas just around the corner, you might still be hunting for the perfect gift for a petrol head you know. That’s why we’re here to help (sort of).
While car brands have a range of clothing and accessories, some luxury marques have items in their festive catalogues that are a little wacky, somewhat surprising and – in many cases – out-of-this-world expensive.
We’ve delved into the Christmas gift guides for ten premium auto brands to pick out our favourite items from each – though we don’t expect many of you to flock out and buy them, with some costing as much as a new car!
1. Porsche 911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro
Price: £9,100
Need a little extra roar from your home cinema system? Porsche has a soundbar that includes an exhaust system from a 911 GT3 sports car – and it has an eye-watering price
Car enthusiasts with the desire to have an ultimate home theatre setup will certainly like this new addition to Porsche’s Christmas catalogue for 2022.
The 911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro is a limited edition item with only 500 available. The speaker can be mounted to the wall or on its own stand under your TV. It features 300 watts of power, 4K-compatible HDMI ports and the most advanced version of Dolby’s Atmos surround sound system. Oh, and it has an exhaust attached to it!
Connected to the TV speaker is a Porsche 911 GT3 (which costs from £135,700 new in the UK) exhaust system. While the looks might not be to all interior tastes, it should make a cracking sound.
2. Bentley golf clubs
Price: £6,850
A festive hole in one: Bentley has two sets of golf clubs in its festive catalogue. The priciest of the two is a £6,850 set of 14 graphite clubs that will make you the envy of every petrol head on the green
Golf course car parks are usually packed with plenty of flashy motors, and this item from a British luxury auto brand will make you the envy of every petrol head on the green, no matter what vehicle you pull up in.
For just under £7,000 from its Christmas catalogue, Bentley has its own graphite golf club set and a golf cart bag to carry them in.
The 14 clubs are Japanese handcrafted pieces and come with branded head-covers. There is a steel option available costing £600 less, but these items with graphite shafts are lighter and said to deliver ‘higher energy transfer’ to help you drive the ball further.
3. Ferrari high heels
Price: £810
Talk of the Christmas party if you turn up in these: Ferrari makes more money from its merchandise than it does selling cars. There’s a range of expensive clothing for women, including these £810 leather high heels, which are a statement piece
Ferrari makes more money selling merchandise than it does cars, and the selection of clothing available for men and women is diverse – and all very pricey.
Our pick from the 2022 festive catalogue will be the talking point of any Christmas party if a Ferrari aficionado happened to casually stroll in wearing a pair.
These Ferrari leather high heels will set you back a whopping £810 and have a brushed laminate red finish that ‘mirrors the shine of Ferrari cars’ bodywork’. And, of course, it has prancing horses adorned on each heel.
4. Maserati tie holder
Price: £250
Ever find yourself wishing you had somewhere to keep your ties when on travelling in your luxury Italian sports car? If this is you, you will be happy to hear that Maserati not only sells motors but a matching tie holder
Are you the sort of person who often finds themselves in situations where you’re caught short requiring a tie for a meeting or event and you don’t have one to hand because you don’t have anywhere suitable to carry one (other than your pocket)? Then this could be the Christmas gift for you!
Maserati has a tie holder in its Christmas catalogue. We know, we didn’t realise this was a thing either.
It’s made from soft calfskin, has a zip closure, padded interior with loops to wrap ties around and the stamped Maserati Trident logo on the outside. For £250, it’s an expensive accessory we didn’t know we needed…or even existed.
5. Tesla Model X-Mas Christmas jumper
Price: £65
New for 2022 in the Tesla Christmas catalogue is this fetching ‘Model X-Mas’ jumper. The ideal attire for a Christmas party (though probably not if you’re a Twitter employee)
Imagine the brownie points you’d earn with Elon if you turned up to Tesla’s Christmas Party wearing one of these? We would have said the Twitter party, but at the time of publishing we don’t know if there will be a suitable number of employees to host a gathering.
Yet, for all electric vehicle fans – and Mr Musk’s dedicated ‘Teslarati’ following – this has to be the Christmas jumper to be seen in this year. Available in sizes XS to XXXL, the limited-edition sweater features a festive pattern made up of the Model 3, Model S, Model X, Model Y and Cybertrucks, a number of Superchargers, lightning bolt silhouettes and Tesla’s logo.
Despite launching this year, huge demand means the Tesla Model X-Mas Christmas jumper is already out of stock on the UK site – but you can set up an email alert for when more become available. Maybe one for the Christmas party in 2023, then.
6. Bugatti vanity mirror/power bank
Price: £24
Bugatti’s Christmas catalogue has this vanity mirror that doubles as a power bank to charge your devices
Of all the products in this top 10 list, we think this is the best value and the one that will be used most often by a lucky recipient.
It’s a dual-purpose item from the maker of the most expensive cars in the world, Bugatti.
In its Christmas collection for 2022 is this super-practical make-up accessory.
It flips open and provides an LED-lit vanity mirror, allowing you to apply some lippy in style while on the move.
But the Bugatti-logo-embossed item also doubles as a portable power bank, with one USB and one Micro-B slot so you can charge your phone and other devices when you’re out of the house.
Smart!
7. Pagani passport holder
Price: £232
Want to look flash when boarding a plane? This Pagani passport holder will do just that…until you handover the economy boarding pass. At over £230, it’s not cheap
Pagani is often referred to as the sexiest auto maker on the planet, having produced some jaw-dropping models in its brief history – the likes of the Zonda, Huayra and recently-announced Utopia hypercar.
The cars aren’t cheap, though. The Utopia, for example, will cost in excess of £2million when it arrives. And it seems it isn’t just the vehicles that have a big mark-up – so does some of the merchandise in the official Christmas catalogue.
The one that made our eyes almost pop out of our heads is this Pagani leather passport holder made from nappa calfskin and carbon fibre. Nice, isn’t it? It’s practical too, with eight slots to fit credit cards as well as a pocket for your passport and other documents. Then you see the price tag of £232. Ouch!
8. Lamborghini docking station and speaker
Price: £40,040
The speaker that costs more than a brand new 3 Series: BMW sells its popular executive saloon for prices starting from £38,990. Spend a little more and you can have a speaker that looks like the back-end of a Lamborghini supercar
Do not adjust your screen and stop rubbing your eyes – the price quoted above is correct. This officially-branded Lamborghini docking station and speaker costs more than a brand-new BMW 3 Series!
Such is the staggering price and exclusivity of this item that they are strictly hand-built to order in a collaboration between Lambo and Italian brand iXOOST.
Called the ESAVOX, it is ‘produced like an extreme car’. That means it comes with a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis. It also gets 800 watts of power, 6.1 virtual surround sound, Bluetooth 4.0, passive shock absorbers to dampen vibrations and ceramic supports that let you adjust the height. It is also designed to look like a Lamborghini exhaust system and the power button has the same jet-fighter-style cover you get in a Huracan and other models. It comes in a choice of four colours: orange; red; yellow; or black.
At over £40,000, it is by far the most expensive item in our list. Not what you’d call a ‘stocking filler’.
9. Volvo scarf
Price: £90
Keep warm and look Nordic cool in this official Volvo scarf. Made from 100% lamb’s wool, it costs £90
Volvo used to be a brand so synonymous with safety, practicality and comfort that it was considered a little boring and not a marque everyone wanted to be associated with. But today it is a bona-fide luxury company, building some of the plushest models on the market.
And speaking of plush, its Christmas catalogue for 2022 includes this scarf, complete with Volvo branding stitched into the hem. It’s probably the most sensible – and stylish – product in this list.
It’s made from 100 per cent lamb’s wool and is only available in this shade of contemporary grey, which means it should go with just about any outfit. What makes it crazy? Well, the asking price of £90, which we imagine is at the steep end of the market, even for the most dedicated scarf connoisseurs.
10. Rolls-Royce wireless headphones
Price: £1,050
No list including luxury car brands would be complete without a Rolls-Royce item. These wireless headphones cost just over £1,000, and only 200 are available
It wouldn’t be a guide to luxury car brand items without including the most opulent marque of them all, Rolls-Royce.
The Goodwood-based limo maker has a range of products in its Christmas catalogue for 2022, including these limited-edition wireless headphones. It says that the price is only available on enquiry – which is the case with a lot of the features you can add to a Phantom or Ghost. However, we’ve found them being sold by the brand in the US for $1,200, which converts to just over a grand.
They’re made from a combination of aluminium and ‘Saffiano’ brown leather. They’ve only made 200 available and they come with their own ‘premium monogrammed storage case’. You’ll probably need to be wearing these noise-cancelling headphones when you tell your wife how much you spent on them.
