Tens of thousands of supporters of US President Donald Trump gathered in the vicinity of the White House with a mass demonstration, demanding a review of the results of the presidential election, which was won by Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
The demonstrators gathered for the “March to Save America” in the “Ellipse” Park south of the White House, waiting for Trump, who is scheduled to address them.
Then the protesters are expected to head to the Congress building in conjunction with the House and Senate holding a joint session to validate the results of the vote in the presidential elections.
Trump is adamant he refuses to admit his election defeat, accusing his Democratic opponents of “stealing the victory.”
Trump called on his Vice President Mike Pence, who heads the Senate, to refuse to acknowledge Biden’s victory.
Today’s march, announced by Trump weeks ago, comes as part of a series of pro-government protests that began in Washington last Tuesday.
