Five members of the same Texas family have been arrested and charged for taking part in the January 6 riot at the US Capitol, federal documents reveal.
The Department of Justice has brought federal trespassing and disorderly conduct charges against Kristi Munn, Tom Munn, Dawn Munn, Josh Munn, and Kayli Munn of Borger, Texas.
During the choas, Kristi Munn is alleged to have posted a message on Facebook that read: ‘Tear gas tastes like freedom.’
As of Tuesday, some 530 people have been arrested for taking part in the Capitol riot. The Munn family is the largest family unit to face charges for participating in the siege aimed at stopping certification of Joe Biden‘s election victory.
An affidavit filed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation revealed that three days after the riot, a relative of Kristi Munn’s fiance contacted the authorities after seeing several of her social media posts.
Kristi Munn was photographed with other members of her family, all of whom were tagged on Facebook. Authorities then interviewed locals in Borger, Texas to confirm the identities of the family members.

The FBI also cited posts by Kelsi Munn, who did not appear to have travelled to Washington, DC on January 6. Kelsi Munn posted the same images to her Facebook account as Tom Munn. ‘These women stormed OUR capital and demanded OUR House and Country back!!!’ Kelsi Munn wrote in one Facebook post.
‘Q’ is a reference to QAnon, the popular conspiracy theory which alleges that the federal government is run by a cabal of Democratic Party-aligned pedophiles and that Trump is destined to save the country by exposing them.
In one post, Kristi Munn allegedly wrote: ‘I was just thinking… tear gas tastes like freedom #StopTheSteal #TrumpIsMyPresident.’
When someone on Facebook asked if she knew that from personal experience, Kristi allegedly replied: ‘I do now…They gassed us all.’
After the riot, federal investigators said the family posted messages on social media confirming their participation.
‘The only damage to the capital building was several windows and sets of doors,’ Tom Munn wrote on Facebook.
‘Nothing inside the capital was damaged. I can tell you, patriots NEVER made it to the chamber.
‘There was no violence in the capital building, the crowd was NOT out of control … they were ANGRY!!!’
The Munn family, like the other alleged Capitol rioters, were in the crowd at a rally in which Trump spoke at the Ellipse near the White House, which is less than two miles from the Capitol.
