The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) of Nuevo León, reported that more than 331 people in the field are going to visit 5,651 rural towns with 15,000 inhabitants or less to carry out the Agricultural Census 2022which will take place from September 19 to November 30.

With the information that is collected, the Inegi will be able to count on a statistical tool to help the public and private sectors, since what is sought is to update the data for decision-making and generate public policies that serve the primary sector of Mexico.
It is worth mentioning that the Agricultural Census was going to be carried out in 2016, however it was postponed until 2022.
The official mentioned that Inegi estimates that in Nuevo León there are about 123,000 plots of land in rural areas; approximately 91,000 plots have activity agricultural, rancher o forestrythese lands form about 42,000 production units to which the census questionnaire is applied.
A production unit is the economic unit made up of one or more plots of land within a municipality.
In 32,000 rural lands, another economic activity (not agricultural or forestry) is developed, or no activity is carried out, these places will be reviewed with satellite images, the official said.
The Agricultural Census will allow us to know all the conditions in which important crops are planted and harvested in the state, such as: orange, potato, red tomato, walnut, white grain corn, chili, tangerine, lemon, alfalfa and grapefruit.
It will also allow obtaining statistics on the breeding of cattle, portion us, poultry, goats y sheepas well as the breeding and care of bees.
For example, he said that the Census will allow updating data of the production units in the country, 23% have land whose surface is irrigated, of that percentage, it is estimated that 0.83% corresponds to Nuevo León.
Of the total workforce in the agricultural sector in the entity, 28% do not receive a salary or wages, since most are relatives of the producer. Day laborers are also hired on average for 52 days with seven hours of daily work.
