The AFAC reports 102 operations canceled at airports in Culiacán and Mazatlán

The Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) reported that, as a result of the events recorded this morning in Culiacán (arrest of Ovidio Guzmán), it has a record of 32 commercial operations canceled at the Mazatlán International Airport (26 national and 6 international) and in the Culiacán terminal area 70 were suspended commercial operations (62 domestic passengers and 8 cargo).

The foregoing, because both facilities are closed for security reasons for the public user.

“The assets and security of the airport facilities, as well as the fuel storage and vehicles that supply it are also duly under protection,” it was detailed in a statement.

According to the Mexican aeronautical authority, given the events that occurred early Thursday morning (where two aircraft had a bullet impact: one from Aeroméxico and another from Mexican Air Force), airport commanders were instructed to summon the members of their respective airport security committees to coordinate operations and deal with any act that organized crime might carry out.

“The aviation companies that operate in these airports informed themselves of the cancellation of their flights from or to the aforementioned air terminals and informed that they are serving passengers located in those sites for the replacement of tickets or reassignment of flights,” he said. the agency.

So far, the authorities in charge of these airports keep the decision to suspend flights until security is guaranteed for a safe operation. In addition, the AFAC continues to coordinate with the public security authorities to follow up on the events and will report the situation in a timely manner.
