The Algerian Ministry of Culture denied its intention to seek the help of non-Algerian artists, including Haifa Wehbe and Mohamed Ramadan, in order to promote local tourism, denying the news circulating in this regard.
The ministry’s statement stated that it had “unfortunately recorded a smear campaign and fallacies carried out – in the recent period – by parties with known motives to incite and mobilize against them on social media sites.” Therefore, it “refuted and refuted once again (…) its intention to bring in Arab or foreign artists.” According to the statement, and “confirms that Algerian artists and creators are the first to encourage and promote national culture, local heritage and domestic tourism.”
This clarification comes days after the Algerian newspaper “An-Nahar” spoke, according to the Turkish “Anatolia” agency, about assigning the Algerian Ministry of Culture “to the” Nexus Cor “company (especially) to organize the Algeria International Festival for Heritage and Tourism, Summer 2021, with the participation of artists from Egypt and Lebanon. Among them are Ramadan and Wahbi. “
