The design of the “Sabha and Dafiana” municipality building in Mafraq Governorate, northern Jordan, sparked controversy on social media, as it appeared as a copy of the American White House.
The opinions of the pioneers of social media were divided between those who liked the design and those who criticized its high financial cost. The mayor of “Subha and Dafiana” Bakhit Al-Issa said in this context that the municipality relied completely on itself in the construction of the building, financed by an external grant.

He added that the idea of designing the town hall in the style of the White House aims to symbolize “municipal strength.”
Al-Issa explained that the new building replaced the old building, which was cramped for employees, with the aim of better providing public services to citizens.
Regarding the financial cost of the building, Al-Issa revealed that 700 thousand dinars were allocated for the construction of this building, after a study conducted by the Ministry of Local Administration, but the municipality was able to implement it on an area of 5000 meters and a building of 800 meters at a cost of 480 thousand dinars.
