American and Russian scientists have chosen a better model for a manned moon landing capsule and have published an article on the matter in the space science journal Acta Astronautica.
The article stated that in 2017 the United States launched the “Artemis” program, which stipulates that in 2024 two American pioneers and pioneers will land on the surface of the moon in its Antarctic region.

While NASA experts intend to deploy before that the Lunar Gateway station in the lunar orbit from where multi-use manned capsules will descend to the surface of the moon.

As for the experts at the American Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Russian “Skolkovo” Institute of Science and Technology, they decided to choose a better model out of 39 models put forward by private companies for the space trip from the orbital station to the moon back and forth, and they processed the capabilities of the multi-use and single-use capsules. They also treated the various fuels that the manned capsule could use.
The scientists recalled that the capsule used by the two American astronauts in the framework of the “Apollo” lunar program was single-use and two-stage, meaning that it used the landing and takeoff phases.
While the authors of the article were unanimous that the single-stage, multi-use, oxygen-and-hydrogen capsule is the best example of the mentioned space flight.
One of the article writers and a student at the Russian “Skolkovo” Institute, Kira Laticheva, said that the single-stage, multi-use capsule will ensure the provision of funds to transport space devices to the moon and reduce the cost of the entire lunar mission even though the weight of the single-stage capsules is many times greater than the weight of the two-stage capsules.
